It’s like a movie isn’t it? A literal band of brothers tinker away at their hard rocking ambitions somewhere in little ol’ New Zealand and then BAM! – U.S. Radio stardom. Cut to; they’re working to a punishing `Merican tour schedule and using every moment they’re not travelling, playing or ‘pressing the flesh’ to record their new album whilst on the road, with the help of tonnes of recording gear, sequestered away in hotel rooms! Sounds unbelievable? Well perhaps you just need to convert to the power of rawk and rawl! Auckland brothers Chris, Kent and Matt Brooks have done just that, working hard the only way kiwis know how; to create stadium, big chunky rock riffs that will have you salivating, especially if acts like Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin and Alter Bridge are your jams.
Crafting lean riffs and considered progressions, Chaos Theory Part 1 carries a swag of extras over your usual rock album; not only in the hefty presence of skilled keys and programming from the trio of bros but also – and this is sure to have Oz clamouring to claim Like A Storm as their own; there’s a Didgeridoo solo. Making their breakthrough track Love The Way You Hate Me the first of their self-proclaimed genre of #DidgeridooMetal. Struth! Despite the reticence this may cause in some readers, you can rest assured that it’s an interesting flourish that sounds cool and definitely adds a dynamic that’s unexpected. See… put that in your cross-tasmanial instrument prejudice and smoke it. Seriously, these guys are huge: in persona and stage presence, in talent and in that all important ‘it’ quality; and you’re going to feel like a bit of a tool burger when they rock world domination shortly if you’re not part of it.
