Greytown born, Huia Veale’s single Waiting For You is a wonderful song to add to her musical career. She was born into a musical family and with it being also being her number one passion, she is now ready to share her sound with the rest of the world.
The tone of the piece is set strongly due to the simple melody and lyrics. The story of a girl missing her lover is clearly depicted and even though the song has an enjoyable melody to listen to, you embrace and except the sadness and longing of the female character.
I really appreciate music that utilises lyrics, picks and constructs sentences that unmistakably paint the image and story for the listener, and this is exactly what Huia has done. She uses a simple melody underneath the vocals which establishes the tone of the piece even more. The instrumental half way through the song is beautiful and very pleasant to listen to.
Huia’s voice is clear with a lovely smooth quality that enhances the story being told, especially during the intro when it is only her and the guitar being strummed.
I congratulate Huia on her song Waiting For You and I look forward to hearing more of her music in the near future.
