Heat Death Of The Universe Album Review 1

Bunnies on Ponies is such a cool name I had to review this album. Then when I found out that it’s Samuel Flynn Scott of The Phoenix Foundation, I HAD to review this.

Heat Death of the Universe has a very upbeat happy feel to it. It’s a great album to take on your summer holidays for sure. Very 60’s in a grungy way.

The second track Nothing reminds me of a good Kaiser Chiefs song if that helps to paint a picture for you.

The whole sound is very raw, no frills and back to basics. Rocky guitars, great riffs and brilliant lyrics.

As a reviewer you get to appreciate music of different genres (I hate that word, but never mind), however Bunnies on Ponies will be staying on my iPhone for a long time.

Megaphones, crashing cymbals and chaos are dished out in bucket loads, especially on track 3 Straight Up Jerk.

Destination Newtown Park Flats is a great Wellington song with some very kiwi drug references thrown in. “The vomit in the lift” paints a dark picture as they are “looking for a tinny house”. It’s a long song with weird guitars, which may have been written under some sort of influence, who knows?

The cover to the album is great, has a very 60’s American diner feel, maybe that’s just me?

I could go on and on, however with 10 great songs, not one of them weak, overdriven distorted guitars, please just purchase and support good kiwi artists.
