Single Review: Stoned To Death 1

– Released - September 16 2016
Mordecai Records

From the depths of the Waikato this five-piece heavy metal machine, is already making a dent in the New Zealand Metal scene. With their 2015 debut single Castles gaining airtime on various platforms, this much anticipated follow up (Stoned to Death) is set to impress fans and critics alike.

As soon as we press play we are confronted with what feels like, being strapped into the biggest ride, at the worlds scariest theme park, creating an atmosphere of suspense and slight trepidation. Shortly after we are struck with an earth shaking guitar and drum combo. Pounding yet elaborate, down-tuned riffs paired with a huge bottom end create a landscape that only the title can explain.

After a heavy peppering of rapidly executed, cut throat style vocals, the listener is cast into a realm of clenched fists and zombie like head banging.

We begin to see the true monster that is Destructatron through this modern sounding, clean and tidy production that contributes to the fiery feel and punishing flow of the song. This is a clear statement from the songwriters and producers, showing us they’re not messing around.

All and all this is an outstanding single that leaves us stunned and curious, wanting more!– Matt Mutinous – 4.5 stars
