I had the pleasure of interviewing Anna Coddington this time last year. One of the questions I asked her was what was her next music adventure after her tour with Lips, to which she replied ‘ALBUM. Aaaaaaaallllllbuuuum’. and an album she has brought us.
This is the third album from the acclaimed NZ singer-songwriter and is the culmination of nearly four years of hard work. This album has the sounds of pop with hints of indie and disco making it an album for many genre lovers.
This album features previously released singles such as Bird In Hand and Make You Mine, both of which featured on the shortlist for the APRA Silver Scroll awards.
Bird In Hand happens to be one of my favourite tracks on this album. A beautifully emotional song that proves that to write good music sometimes less is more. This song showcases Anna’s attractive voice. Sung over electric guitar, drums and violin it is haunting song of heartbreak.
Runner is a fantastic mix of pop and disco; a timeless tune merging genres together to create a track appealing to a range of different music loves.
Too Far Gone is a sassy song. The intro of the song definitely gave me the vibe of Mark Ronson’s Valerie feat. Amy Winehouse. With upbeat guitar rifts and an infectious beat, this tune will definitely get ya grovin.

This album showcases an impressive collection of tracks, and I would recommend this to any music enthusiast who wants to listen to an artist that can cross genres, making it seamless and an absolute pleasure to listen to.
