For lovers of blues, funk and everything else in between, you have found yourself in the right place.
Created and grown into a sexy meld of soul and RnB in a basement in Auckland, Jessy & The Volunteers’ have debuted their song and video Phone Face. Under the comedic currents of a storyline of technology taking over the world, there is a serious reality being portrayed through lyrics and video that points the finger at humans becoming so reliant on our media devices.
Significant to the technologically saturated culture of today, this song and video make you nervously laugh and warily glance at your phone, thinking “Am I really that bad?” The video is humorous and relatable, and you can tell that fun was had making it.
Jessy’s voice is sultry, confident and sassy and perfectly blends with the musical arrangement that encapsulates a variety of genres. Some could think that soul, RnB, Blues, Rock and funk couldn’t work in harmony, but these guys blend and meld it into a way that’s seamless and enticing to the ear.
Whatever your preferred music preference, I would go check the video out, it’s fun, it makes you think, it gets you in the grooving mood and it makes me want to know where Jessy got her sequinned sparkly jumpsuit from.
