Ep Review: How To Be Lonely 1

Jason Parker has recently released his 5-track EP, How To Be Lonely and in doing so, he has brought his life affirming pop to our speakers. Parker has a history in TV talent shows and they are one of my favourite things. It’s clear he is a natural-born performer, with his own sequin-filled aesthetic and ambitions that go way beyond the fleeting fame that often goes hand in hand with contests. In this EP, he brings us fun, catchy lyrics which are ripe for summer festivals and the carefree times we are all longing for post-lockdown.

How To Be Lonely is staunchly upbeat and it’s a strand of sugary pop reminiscent of early Britney Spears. The second track It’s My Bad (Oops) showcases Parker’s vocals a little more. It’s playful and we get a good dose of instant sing-a-long lyrics.

The third track I Think About You is presented predictable rhymes with an authenticity that must come from Parker’s experiences which he manages to express well in his music, while turning it into something that feels universal.

With How To Be Lonely Parker has produced a set of punchy pop songs that will have you turning the radio up and rolling the window down – feel good music quota met.
