What can we expect to see from Project: Blood over the next year?

James: More shows, an album or 2 EP’s, hopefully a Christmas album, or the recorded live to air set.
Jared: A nude photo shoot. 
Damo: A music video in an R18 fashion.
Rob: Yeah, an EP of some sort.

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Rob: Be Yourself, fuck trends. 
James: Skip breakfast and steal money from your mum for drugs. 
Jared: Enjoy refreshing time. Whatever you do don’t listen to us!
Damo: Play and learn what you’re in to.

Who are your favourite NZ musicians/bands, and why?

Jared:Alphabethead, he plays the turntables like an instrument and Elephant of the Ocean are stupendous, sort of similar to Fantomas but completely different.
Damo: Elephant of the Ocean, Amachine, Sticky Filth, Turbostill – their stage energy has not been matched by any other NZ band of any genre. 
Rob:Future Stupid – they fuckin groove! Cortina – crazy performances, awesome songs. Jordan Reyne – amazing voice and atmospheres.
James:Dick Dynamite and The Dopplegangers – cos they are just so fuckin cool and they cover ‘Pet Semetary’ by The Ramones.

How do you come up with your lyrics?

James: Easy, just write songs about movies.

Who would you most like to support live?

Rob: Ummm…. Skinny Puppy? Front Line Assembly? Too many to list.
Jared: Dio or Michael Jackson, but sadly its too late now. 
Damo: Macabre, Pungent Stench, AC/DC, Sisters Of Mercy or Ulver.
James: Blitzkid, American Werewolves, Killing Joke or EHC.

How do you believe Project: Blood fits into the NZ music industry?

Rob: In the bath.
Damo: Independent free thinkers opposing mainstream trends, so we probably don’t fit in. Unless you want us to Ppffhhtt we are who we are. 
Jared: I think there’s a place for this kind of music. People with all sorts of different musical tastes could find something interesting in it if they have a listen.
James: You should see what it does to the ladies! 
Rob: For people who miss the 90’s industrial sound with a spoonful of good fun and cheese when appropriate.

What can you never leave home without?

Damo: House keys, clothes. 
Jared: A can opener for if I get hungry. I always lose stuff anyway so best to just leave it at home.
Rob: Pants, ipod.
James: Chloroform, rag, rope.

How do you describe Project: Blood’s music?

Damo: Industrial metal, sounds to groove to, good riff structures, music with thought. 
Jared: A friend once called it ‘evil dance music’. 
Rob: Industrial metal, early to mid 90’s sound I guess. 
James: Industrial rock/roll metal. You can dance to it… so dance fucker!

What is the best part of being a musician?

James: People think you are cool and edgy. 
Damo: It’s a relaxing release of day to day frustrations. 
Jared: It seems to somehow make you more attractive.
Rob: Creating songs that I want to hear and sometimes having people like them too.

What inspired you to become a start Project: Blood?

James: Appealed to musical goodness, so why not making start a band? Band quite strong. Rob and Skeleton and soon addition for Damo. Making well for some songs. Jared… and then at some shows. Project: Blood, shining happy to all future.

How did you come up with the name Project: Blood?

Rob: I came up with a bunch of names and James choose his favourite. 
James: I picked one I thought was neat.

What is the best gig you have ever performed at, and why?

Damo: Project: Blood at Wellington’s Medusa. Crowd response for a new band was wicked. 
Jared: Our first Factory show in Palmy was cool. Great crowd response and awesome first gig. 
James: We haven’t played much, but Medusa FTW, or maybe our first show at the Factory.
Rob: As above, all had really accepting and excited crowds.

What rumour would you like to start about Project: Blood?

Damo: We all sit around answering questions for an online music site after playing live to air sets for student radio stations.
Rob: That we are good. 
Jared: Our beards and sideburns contain magical powers when you rub them vigorously.
Damo: You will have a mental picture of Project: Blood every time you have a root with your partner. 
James: We have a keyboard player, he is just hiding from you.
