Foley are back with an unapologetically energetic new single, ‘Time Of My Life’

Harnessing a vibrant energy and exceptional melody, NZ pop duo Foley have returned with their aspirational and carefree new single Time Of My Life.

Today’s release is the third single to come from Foley this year, who have already hit the ground running with massive success on their first two singles of 2024. Debuting their first new music since their 2023 debut album Crowd Pleaser, Foley kicked off the year with the effervescent single Miss You All The Time, then followed up with Low and High – a release that garnered a huge 100k streams in just three days, as well as landing on Spotify playlists including Pop Sauce, Pop n’ Fresh, chill AF, Happy Pop Hits, New Music Friday’s AU/NZ, Denmark, Netherlands, and UK, New Pop Revolution and many more.
Unapologetically aspirational, Time Of My Life leans into the chaos in every sense of the word; in its gritty filtered vocals and distorted instrumentation, as well as lyrically.
“Born from ambition and dreaming of a ferociously chaotic and AWAKE life, the track comes from a place of wanting more for yourself that the mundane day to day life you are living,” says vocalist Ash Wallace.
“The song is a craving for new memories, new stories, and letting yourself be free to make mistakes and learn from them. The production is just as chaotic and loose as the song’s meaning which was such a pleasure to work on.”
Produced by Josh Naley (Ant Saunders, Thomston, Navvy, Riiki Reid), the track was then mixed and mastered by Hamish Patrick (Gretta Ray, Blusher, Joji) and Sam Moses (me&you, Emeli Sande).
“We started this song at Gabe’s house alongside Josh,” explains Ash. “We usually shy away from anything too over the top and cheesy, but we had been writing non stop over the weeks prior, that we needed a palette cleanser. Writing something super straightforward and upbeat just felt so right, and so Time Of My Life was born. We tried to make the production as loud and unabashed as possible so the process of working that through was actually really cathartic!”
Having already established a dynamic reputation as a studio and live unit across Aotearoa prior to the release of Crowd Pleaser, having toured consistently as headliners and support for artists including Remi Wolf, Tove Lo, Flight Facilities and BENEE, Foley really kicked things up another notch with the release of their debut album.
In the lead up to its release, Foley secured a coveted digital billboard in Times Square, NYC as part of Spotify’s EQUAL campaign, as well as enjoying support for the album’s singles including Killing Me Babe, Smooth It Over and What Got Into You. Crowd Pleaser landed at #2 on the NZ Albums Chart upon its debut, becoming the #1 selling physical record during its release week. At the same time, Foley were making further inroads into the Australian scene, enjoying a successful run at BigSound and SXSW Sydney for 2023; while also completing a sold out nationwide album tour in New Zealand.
This year saw the duo become Aotearoa Music Award nominees (Best Pop Artist), enjoy a sold out five-date tour through Los Angeles and New York in April/May; they also found themselves on one of pop culture’s biggest radars, when Killing Me Babe was featured on the recent season finale of The Kardashians.
Having solidified their sonic direction, fans can rest assured that there’ll be more high energy songs to come; songs that are “100% Foley.” Ash explains that the duo are “so confident now in what Foley’s sound is after releasing our first album, that this next run of songs has been such a dream to put together.”
