A short history, Stark Raving was founded in October 2002, by Mark Rowley, Pete Rowley and Mark Reeves. The concept was simple, do what we have wanted to do all our lives, write and record original rock music. Pete Rowley was the true pioneer of the band, being a self taught guitarist of approx 5 years, he approached Mark Reeves, a top drummer and long time friend, and to finish the original threesome, Mark Rowley was pretty much told to go buy a bass.
The three then met with Frazer, had a few jams together, after a short time it was evident that there was too much artistic conflict and Frazer moved on. The band then invited Jae Bedford to join, Jae brought with him the same passion for original music as the other three as well as two songs that were recorded on the album (‘Revolution’ & ‘All My Love’), he also co-wrote several of the other songs on the album.
Unfortunately, after all the hard work that was put in by all, the three original members decided the direction of the band had differed from the originally intended course, the decision was made to disband Stark Raving.
The original members then approached long time Dunedin rock icon, Peter Weeda, with the idea of starting fresh, the new band is known as “RWR EXPRESS”, the band has performed only once but very busy writing new material & hopefully recording shortly… watch this space !
