Great band in the 80’s hailing from Dunedin, the Netherworld Dancing Toys featured a three-piece brass section in contrast to the lo-fi jangly guitars that were typical of the Dunedin sound.
The Toys scored a huge hit in 1986 with the single For Today. Annie Crummer dueted with vocalist Malcolm Black in a song that still receives regular plays on classic hits stations today.
For Today and the album Painted Years cleaned up the 1986 NZ Music Awards, with the band winning Song Of The Year, Single Of The Year, Album Of The Year and Group Of The Year.
