Phil Garland has been described on numerous occasions as “New Zealand’s ‘Living Legend’ and “Roving Ambassador of Kiwi folksong” vividly bringing to life the songs, stories and bush yarns of New Zealand. He has long been regarded as a “National Living Treasure” and this country’s foremost authority on the Kiwiana folk heritage, introducing you to the true musical heart of New Zealand and its people.

Phil’s impressive career spans nearly forty years, during which time he has recorded a dozen solo albums, appearing on many others as a solo contributor and recording with his band Bush Telegraph. He has won a number of prestigious awards both locally and internationally for his work, as well as writing a seminal book on New Zealand folksong. In addition to receiving accolades for his field collecting work and performances of older songs, Phil is gaining world-wide respect as a “True Blue Kiwi singer/songwriter in his own right”.
