Age Pryor And Congress Of Animals Release New Single On The Eve Of A National Tour

Age Pryor, veteran cast member of Fly My Pretties and founding member of The Woolshed Sessions and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra has now added his own track to the growing Congress of Animals recorded catalogue with his new single, Burning Sun.

Burning Sun is a driving song, inspired by Age’s travels through the vast and varied landscapes of America. Age tells the story; “The song came to me as soon as I got home to New Zealand from a mammoth 40-show, 3 month tour of USA in 2016 with the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra. We saw everything – from snaking snow-covered roads in Washington State to summery peaceful weather in California, the gorgeous warm and open vistas of Arizona, spooky suburban emptiness, big city East Coast bridges and skyscrapers, country roads, little port towns, and the constant interior of a Transporter van with our band whānau sleeping or looking bleary-eyed out the window. Infused in all of these visual memories is the feeling of danger, excitement and adrenaline that comes with taking risks and leaping off, deep into the unknown.” The music video for Burning Sun is directed by Age Pryor and is comprised from outtakes from that very tour. Shot on the road, it gives the viewer their own window seat view on a mesmerizing journey across America.

Recorded with the help of Congress of Animals, a loose consortium of studio musicians and performers, the song features the vocal talents of Wellington-based singer-songwriter, Deanne Krieg who has become another regular contributor to the group. You can see Deanne perform in Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Auckland and Leigh as part of the Strange Caravan tour.  Tickets are available now through undertheradar.co.nz.
