People of the Sun is a psychedelic rock trio, comprised of seasoned musicians Joseph Anderson (Guitar, lead vocals), Tom Scrase (Drums, Taonga Puoro, Vocals), and Djordje Nikolic (Bass, Vocals).
The band brings a distinctly Aotearoan voice to the psyche-rock genre.
Influenced by all the incredible artists they grew up listening to, the band was determined to explore directly the rawness and vulnerability of their own lived-experience. Aspiring to create music that eschews commercial trends, in favour of emotional connectedness and authenticity.
Their music is also heavily influenced by a variety of indigenous music, as well being inspired by the indigenous concept of music as a tool for learning and healing.
