New Project For Christabel And Chequered Pattern$

After dropping out of high school at the age of 16 to pursue her music career, she is finally releasing her first project. Christabel has warm breath-taking vocals, with the power to belt pitch-perfect melodies in performance. She has been working on the release with her two high school ex-boyfriends; Sebastian and Sabastian.

With Seb being a hip-hop producer and DJ under the name Chequered Pattern$, and support from Sab – lead guitarist for the band, Cherry Blind – Christabel has a fresh, genre blending sound.

Christabel and Chequered Pattern$ intended to break the rules of the music medium, after becoming sick of seeing artists attempt the same release strategy. Their track list reads Vanilla, Magic Man, With A, Mullet – and cannot be categorised as an EP or album as it contains three songs and an interlude, challenging the formal structure of music releases.

With the mentorship of Church from Church and AP – under Te Karanga Trust, the pair has been able to make an impactful independent release plan. They have been releasing quirky videos on Instagram and Facebook to tease the release and their pages have caught attention from some prominent NZ artists such as Kings and Melodownz.

They also plan to film a music video for the song, Mullet to pay homage to the years Christabel spent living in Mangawhai where she was the lead vocalist in the band, Rosamund.
