New Single and Video for Henika

Announcing the new single and video Strange Creatures by Henika to be released on all platforms on 22nd April 2021. Strange Creatures is the first single from the forthcoming album of the same name to be released later in 2021. The song is composed largely from sampled New Zealand native birdsong recorded by Henika on various predator free sanctuaries. It features the Tui as percussion, the Korimako as melodic hooks, the Kokako as chordal harmony and the Kakapo as bass.

The video was directed and edited by Henika. She also created the masks and costumes. The video features members from the contemporary dance group Dance Plant Collective.

All profits from the single go to the non-profit organisation The Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi Inc, the volunteer group helping with conservation on the island where Henika made the majority of her field recordings.

On Saturday 24th April 8:30pm, Henika will be doing a livestream from her Facebook page with a full performance of the new album and a Q & A on how it was created.
