Painting Positivity On Loss, With This Latest Single From Dunedin’s Keira Wallace

Sunflower is a lighthearted, soulful song that encapsulates a positive yet wistful message about caring and loss. Initially inspired by a science project, life experiences deepened the message and filled the song with new colours. This is their third self produced single, concluding the trio produced in early 2020 with Molly Devine. The homemade music video features evening skies and a beloved Eric, and is now all the more poignant with the recent loss of the beautiful fuzzy boy.

Keira Wallace’s cathartic lyrics and nostalgic sounds are often inspired by the links between the environment and human nature. Using mellow vocals and gentle guitar, this Dunedin indie artist evokes feelings of connection and understanding. Their songs draw in the audience to form their own interpretation, stirring memories of warm wind and throwing leaves.
