Brody Leigh Welcomes You To The 'sad Club' With Debut Single Launching Her Solo Platform

19 year old newcomer Brody Leigh releases her hotly anticipated debut single Sad Club today, after undertaking 6 months of development with Luna Management in 2021. Previously recognised as one half of Smokefree Rockquest winners and brother-sister duo Ben & Brody, she is now forging her own path with a new sound and solo platform, already catching the attention of the wider industry just from sharing snippets of songs written at the piano and on guitar on her Instagram and TikTok. Having been scouted to play opening sets for local established artists like Georgia Lines and Paddy Echo, the excitement building around her despite not having released anything until now has been undeniable.

Co-written with Mckenzie Comer (MCK) and produced by Joel Jones, Sad Club is an intimate diary entry documenting her very first heartbreak, showcasing Brody’s incredible knack for storytelling at such a young age.

On the inspiration behind the track, Brody says “I hated the feeling.. of my first heartbreak — hence the lyric “this is my welcome to the Sad Club”. To me, the song is like a time capsule of that really strange period of my life, it’s when I learnt what it means to really miss someone.”

Sad Club is the first of many singles that Brody will share in 2022, as she continues to grow and develop her sound, but one thing’s for sure — it’s only the beginning for this young star in the making.

”I would say that I’ve come into my own this past year in a big way. My goal for 2022 is to grow my platform around NZ, play live shows, make lots of music and work with other kiwi artists.”
