How to be Lonely is house-inspired pop heaven with soaring vocals, empowering lyrics and a beat ready for the club. Not only the title track but also the final song that was written for Jason’s debut EP – a collection of songs that speak to different kinds of loneliness.

“That’s why I chose How to be Lonely as the EP title,” says Jason. “Sometimes it’s self-inflicted and other times it’s overcoming or hiding away. ‘How To Be Lonely’ is fun, campy and filled with ‘can’t get ‘em out of my head’ hooks. But if you were to read the lyrics, it’s just a story of a person struggling to open up to love.”

Recorded in the artist’s bedroom during the 2021 lockdown, it was produced and mixed by Alvyn Tan and follows the release of Jason’s singles You Rescued Me, This Is My Year and It’s My Bad (Oops).

Accompanying the single is a colourful, camp and fashion-focused video filmed by Daisy Thor Poet – Tinted Productions at a Wairarapa holiday home, with Jason dressed in new season Trelise Cooper, which he personally selected from the NZ fashion icon’s wardrobe.

“It was the middle of winter – high of 8 degrees – and the pool was so cold I got brain freeze, but I was adamant I wanted a splash shot,” says Jason. “The video depicts me having the time of my life and being free to be myself. It’s a zero-budget video, just a group of friends with incredible talents.

Jason Parker is an effervescent musical beam of light whose pop-perfect vocals, beautifully written/produced songs and electric performances are why he‘s charted on the Official NZ Hot Singles Charts; has over 30k streams on Spotify and garnered praise from industry heavyweights in both NZ and Australia. Jason got a taste of the spotlight in 2014 on X Factor Australia, gaining over 2.5 Million views on YouTube after receiving a standing ovation from judges Danni Minogue, Redfoo and Ronan Keating. Fast forward to 2021, Jason debuts his single You Rescued Me on NZ Popstars, wowing viewers and judges and propelling him to begin work on his debut EP, How To Be Lonely. “My goal is to make music I wanna listen to. After my mum, I’m probably my biggest fan, and I love clubbing, party Girling, and when music has the power to make me feel emosh while I’m raving.
