Impostor Syndrome Perform Acoustic Live Rendition Of Their Single 'i Talk Too Much'

Impostor Syndrome is a rising alternative rock band based in Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand. The band was formed in the early 2020’s with a shared passion for creating unique and impactful music. Their sound is characterized by a mix of powerful vocals, driving beats, and atmospheric instrumentals that come together to create an emotionally charged soundscape.

I Talk Too Much was released in 2022 as the third single of the band’s debut album Oriens. The song speaks of loss, regret and missed moments resurfacing from the past. Being the only acoustic based tune on the record, performing the song live as part of the bands new Live Acoustic at the Brian Gerrard Theatre set seemed like an obvious inclusion.

Impostor Syndrome’s writing process is generally always done acoustically and the band thought it would be fun to share the more raw side of their playing, which not only acts as a glimpse into their creative process but allows them to test the waters for future live performance, which they are working towards realizing with a full band.

The band is made up of lead vocalist Ryan Culleton, guitarist/multi instrumentalist Shannon Coulomb and drummer Scott Nicolson. Their music is heavily influenced by a wide range of artists and genres, including alternative rock, post-punk, and shoegaze. The band is dedicated to using their platform to address important social and political issues, and their lyrics often touch on themes such as mental health, self-discovery, and the search for identity.
