Caught Inside Release Sophomore EP ‘5 Star Shag’
A breadth of genres and songwriting styles are encompassed in Caught Inside’s new EP 5 Star Shag. Its shimmering introductory track welcomes us into this intoxicating world of complicated relationships, illicit substances, and trying to forge an identity independent from those who have tried to claim you in the past.
As a whole, the project works to create a relationship narrative that spans first encounters, messy breakups, casual sex, and finally moving on. While she attempts to find herself, Caught Inside’s protagonist also explores facing the pressures of financial independence, and life in the capital city. She’s Dancing, the EP’s final track, is in direct defiance to these pressures, offering a final self-assured say in this tumultuous narrative.
5 Star Shag is the culmination of the band’s collaboration with producer Emily Wheatcroft-Snape (Lorde, Fazerdaze), bringing together their blistering live-energy and artistic flair into an edgy yet palatable slice of the band’s hi-octane personality. Also featured throughout the project are HINA on violin, and Wilhelmina Heeringa on alto saxophone.
With a mini tour booked to support its release, Caught Inside look forward to a massive summer of live music, festivals dates, and touring.
