The Naked and Famous’ Thomas Powers returns with a double single release, unveiling ‘Best For You’ + B-Side ‘An Opening’

Award-winning songwriter and producer Thomas Powers from The Naked And Famous offers a preview of his debut LP, A Tyrant Crying In Private. With two new singles: Best For You and it’s neo-classical B-Side An Opening.

Best For You, co-written with Luna Shadows and produced by Powers, explores the complexities of a relationship amidst mutual goals and underlying resentment. “It’s about reconciling desires with the realities of others’ choices,” explains Powers.

This release marks the fifth single from his forthcoming record, with previous singles receiving local media support: Li Feat. Chelsea Jade debuted with support from RNZ, Newstalk ZB, Rolling Stone Magazine, Sniffers and more; Falling Down The Stairs reached #10 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles chart.

Powers showcases his versatility on Best For You, an atmospheric indie electronic track, and An Opening, a lush symphonic post-classical piece featuring strings by frequent collaborator Rob Moose.

A Tyrant Crying In Private is set to release in the first half of this year and features collaborations from Julien Baker, Chelsea Jade, Rob Moose, and Now Now.
