Riiki Reid Completes Her Mini EP Series With Powerful & Stirring New Track ‘Skin’

Today Homegrown artist Riiki Reid (Ngāti Porou), releases the title track and final installment of her up close and personal EP Skin.
In 2019 Raquel Abolins-Reid made the decision to evolve her musical moniker from Riiki to Riiki Reid, a name she felt better represented who she is as a performer and creative. The goal was to release three EPs, each one distinctly different yet uniquely Riiki Reid, giving her the creative space to explore different sounds and genres. First came the alt-leaning Newer Oxygen EP (featuring the edgy Meet You Again); then the pop & dance fueled Crash & Collide EP (which featured her club-ready, Top 20 NZ radio hit The City), and now showcasing her songwriting and vocal talents – the Skin EP (featuring ‘Home With Me’ Top 40 Radio single and the dream pop collaborative single Like You feat. Balu Brigada).
Consistently challenging herself throughout the process of making the Skin EP, Riiki Reid has cemented her place in the industry as a multi-talented producer, dancer, video director, and singer/songwriter.
To celebrate the release of Waiata Anthems 2023, Riiki Reid and fellow artist Muroki, released the beautiful Kārewa an original composition written in Te Reo Māori. This was not the first foray into exploring her Te Reo journey, having previously released her hit singles Karamata (‘High Heights’) and Te Taone (‘The City’).
When she hasn’t been writing and recording, Riiki Reid kept busy on the live circuit, joining Lorde on her NZ national Solar Power tour, Budjerah on his Australian tour, as well as opening for international acts Ashe and Benson Boone. Incorporating her love and talent for dance, Riiki Reid developed her stage show to include her own choreography and dancers which she took to the international stage performing at Brisbane’s Big Sound and Sydney’s Inaugural SXSW event.
Following her performance at the iconic Fed Square in Melbourne, gearing up to release Skin and on the road to New Zealand’s Homegrown festival in March – stay tuned for even more from Riiki Reid this year.
